Despite a downward trend in recorded anthrax cases among animals and humans, numerous soil foci (anthrax burials (Abs)) necessitate continuous monitoring of this infection. The paper gives the most significant results of the work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being, in this area: to catalog antrax cases in animals and humans, to create electronic cadastres of stationary antrax unfavorable points and antrax burials, to develop procedures for the complex assessment of the epidemiological danger of soil antrax foci, to create reagent kits for the diagnosis of antrax in the format of PCR and DNA chip.
