Objective. To evaluate the natural course of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) in patients with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD).
Subjects and methods. The investigation covered 95 CHC patients who were divided into 2 groups: 1) 63 patients with signs of UCTD; 2) 32 patients without UCTD. Complaints and clinical laboratory parameters were comparatively analyzed in 2011 and 3 years later, in 2014.
Results. After 3 years of the natural course of CHC, Group 1 patients were observed to have pronounced liver functional changes: hepatic tissue disorders and blood biochemical abnormalities, which were accompanied by hemorheologic alterations. In Group 2, the found disorders were unidirectional, but their severity was much less.
Conclusion. The presence of UCTD in CHC patients is important and crucial to the high activity of an inflammatory process and to the rapid development of pronounced hepatic fibrotic processes.
