The Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being, the Russian leading research institute in the epidemiology, diagnosis, pathogenesis, therapy, specific and nonspecific preventon of infectious diseases, is 60 years old since the day of its foundation. The paper provides the basic historical milestones of the formation and development of the institute.
